So there I was last week when my recruiter calls me up and is all like:
Rec- "So we hear your contract is up next week has you job notified you yet?"
TOC - >.> "No..."
Rec - "Oh, well we'd like to start helping you look for a new job."
TOC - -.- "Sounds good I guess.."
Rec - "We have nothing open at the moment."
TOC - >.< "Hooray?"
When I contacted my supervisor I could tell I obviously put him in a corner because he was very apologetic. Apparently there were not going to tell me until today. I had found out a week early.
In short,
"We are sorry that we cannot renew your contract. You have been one of the best employees we've had. As an indispensable member of the team you have made significant contributions to the project. However our budget is being downsized-"
I have heard this almost every time now save for the two jobs I voluntarily left. Twice was even shortly after I had received a raise. I've never been fired for incompetence or under-preformance. I've never been fired, my fate it seems is the ever popular "laid off". Each and every job I have ever touched has profited from my ability to get more things done in less time at a higher quality than anyone else. My skill set is vast and deep. There are few folks that can match my problem solving abilities or sheer experience. Take this most recent job for example. My original contract was 3 months. I did such a stellar job that my contract was extended not once, but TWICE. I took a 3 month contract and made it a 14 month contract. Yet I've never lost a job due to my own failures. I lose my job because those above me cannot do their jobs well enough to keep a project afloat. I lose my job because those above me because companies fold due to overestimation of their abilities. I lose my job because management wants to take the project in a new direction, with a new team with twice the number of people with half the experience that does not cost as much. I lose my job because I cannot rely on the rest of the team to do theirs.
So here I am, my job ends on Wed. I cannot afford downtime. Recruiter has found nothing yet. I've applied for 41 jobs since last Monday.
Good times.
So if you feel like allowing me to be self employed and/or want more comic pages per week I could use some Patreon love. There are artists making upwards of 3k a month with badly drawn dogs fucking. I don't want to make social commentary on the priorities of the lower brain vs the upper brain, everyone has bills to pay, do what you need to do to get the green; BUT if civilization relies on only the instant gratification of the right hand instead of the delayed gratification of the right brain, than we might be in trouble. Remember I don't ask a lot. Just a dollar a month. 1. Uno. Ichi. Ein. Every dollar counts.

If you know any Literary Agents I am looking for one to publish a series of fantasy novels (300k words over 3 books) that are already through their first draft ready for an editor. Or if their preference is SciFi that follows a garbage man around a world where teleportation tech has been commonplace for the last millennia and his contemplation of the forgotten idea of the soul (200k words) in its rough draft phase. Or historical fiction set in the French Revolution following a disgraced, opium addicted, detective driven mad by his family's brutal death while he investigats a rash of missing children (150k-ish words) is in its rough draft phase. Or- Just have them contact me, I have another three set of trilogies that need reading and various one offs.
If you can't do either of those spread the word of Plush and Blood. Direct people to the site, tell them how awesome the comic is.
If you can't do that, I guess just keep lurking, your readership is appreciated no matter your actions.
I need a cigarette and I don't even smoke...
